Throughout his life, Danny Gokey has found great relief within music. Whether he’s living some of his best moments or wrestling through his worst, music has always been there. As a child, playing, singing, and creating songs was commonplace in his home. As an adult, Gokey turned to it when his first wife passed away (a month before his audition for American Idol). From there, he made it to the final 3 of the singing competition and he released his first album shortly after the season ended.

And that’s exactly what Christmas is: a reminder of the greatest love and the greatest gift anyone has ever been given. His name is Jesus. Throughout the song, Gokey describes how precious and humble the arrival of our King truly was. He didn’t come with horns blaring and crowds praising Him… He arrived as a baby, helpless and holy all at once.
Of course, we can (and should) praise the Lord every day for the wonderful things He has done and is doing in our lives. Yet, Christmas is a special opportunity to celebrate Jesus’s birth and to praise Him for doing something none of us could have ever dreamed of. It’s because Jesus stepped down to earth clothed in humanity that we have salvation at all. And it’s because of that single moment when Jesus was born that the whole world changed forever.
