Tasha Layton
Get to know KAMB artist, Tasha Layton. This American Idol alum competed alongside Tori Kelly & Lauren Daigle way back in season 9. She has toured, as a backup singer, for Katy Perry, but today, at young age of the 41 years-old is one of Christian music’s most successful recording artists. She is a mother of two & has amassed over 127 million career streams and has scored numerous No. 1 hits.
It all began back as a South Carolina kid growing up in a Southern Baptist church, but just as she was beginning to really feel a fire for the Lord and desired to grow in her relationship with him…she like many, found herself being wounded by the words of a trusted church leader. To escape a toxic environment for their daughter the family physically left the church and Tasha went searching for a new way.
She began exploring other religions by visiting a Buddhist meditation camp, a synagogue and a mosque, even studying mysticism for a while.
“I couldn’t reconcile the fact that I was excited about Christianity, and yet Christians had been the people who hurt me the worst… I wasn’t finding what I was looking for, I tried to take my life and I didn’t succeed.” – Tasha Layton
In an article for Woman’s World, by Deborah Evans Price, she explained feeling lonely and depressed, pushing her to make a difficult choice; enter intensive therapy in Colorado. There she did the hard work of working out the emotional baggage that she had carried for so long she began to feel resolution coming.
He comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any kind of affliction, through the comfort we ourselves receive from God 2nd Corinthians 1:4
“It was at that place that I felt the truth I had known in my head, my whole life, moved to my heart,” – Tasha Layton
We can attend church, study the scriptures, even complete Bible College or Seminary and never allow the truth learned through that education to make it from our heads to our hearts. Unless the truth finds its way into our hearts, living it out in our lives becomes an impossible task. Listening to all the songs in Tasha’s catalog it becomes apparent that she writes each lyric and sings each note from a deep-rooted place in her own heart and personal experience. I believe that connection to her music is what separates Tasha from being labeled just another great voice on the radio.
Worship Through It
“Worship Through It”,featuring Chris Brown was written for a dear friend in her personal community, after he was diagnosed with cancer.
“Whatever you’re walking through, God’s got you. I hope that people can grab onto it and become inspired to worship through whatever situation they’re walking through. Trust in God knowing that He’s faithful. – Tasha Layton
She wrote the song with her husband, Matthew West & AJ with the goal of ministering to people in her community as they walked through a tragic time with their friend, but also praying that the song would mean something to others who were going through trials of their own.
Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him. James 1:12
After he passed away, Layton says the song took on a brand-new meaning.
God answers prayers differently than we feel they should be answered sometimes. God even does miracles that don’t look like miracles because they don’t always live up to what “we, as humans expect” His miracles to look and feel like.
“We’re worshipping through our grief and we’re worshipping through us receiving the miracle not in the way we expected, It’s been really inspiring the way that people have leaned in and surrendered, but it’s still hard.” – Tasha Layton
Brandon Woolum, of CCM Magazine describes it best, “Worship Through It” is a stirring testament to perseverance in the face of challenges, embodying Layton’s signature blend of soulful melodies and heartfelt lyrics. With Brown’s distinctive vocal contribution adding depth and richness to the track, listeners can expect an unforgettable musical experience that uplifts the spirit.”
I pray that it inspires you to lean in, just a bit more to Jesus during the difficult times we are bound to face in this life.

Lyrics
This looks impossible
But You're the God of impossible
And I've seen your faithfulness all over my life
I need a miracle
And You're the God of miracles
Some way, somehow You come through every time
I know my God can do it
So, I'm gonna worship through it
Before I see my breakthrough
I'm gonna choose to praise You
I will sing hallelujah to the one
Who can do what the world says can't be done
I know my God can do it
So, I'm gonna worship through it
In the middle of my no way out
In the middle of my don't know how
I hear You whisper to me peace be still
This is why I believe
You will deliver me
You always have and you always will
You always have and you always will
I won't wait til the rocks cry out
I'm gonna praise You
I won't wait till the walls come down
I'm gonna praise You
(Gonna) Lift my hands right here, right now
I'm gonna praise You
Oh God I praise You!
