In the middle of the humid mid-western summers, you wouldn’t have to look any farther than the baseball diamond to find a younger version of KAMB Artist Matthew West preparing to attend college on a sports scholarship. Instead, he began a journey down the path that the Lord prepared for him. Matthew accepted a four-year scholarship from Millikin University and that made all the difference in Matthew’s life and the world of Contemporary Christian music as we know it today. Let’s take a look at the beginning of Matthew’s career as an artist. Then we’ll explore the process leading to the established artist that he is today.
KAMB Artist Matthew West took to the church sanctuary where his father was a pastor to write his first songs. He wrote during college breaks and recorded his first solo albums while attending classes. During a Steven Curtis Chapman concert, he surrendered to the Lord’s call to become a Christian Music Artist. Friends believed in him so much that they not only encouraged him to attend GMA Music in the Rockies, but they paid his way! There, he met a rep from Word Publishing who kept in contact with him until he graduated. The relationship forged with the rep, launched Matthew into talk with Universal South Records.
Matthew began touring five weeks after graduating from college. He had written songs for mainstream artists like Billy Ray Cyrus and Rachel Lampa, but it was his time now! KAMB Artist Matthew West began touring as an independent artist from 2000 through 2001. Right before signing a record contract with Universal South Records, Matthew suffered a terrible injury. He had locked himself out of his home and attempted to break-in. He had done this before, but this time the window was giving him trouble. The glass broke, nearly severing a major artery in his left arm. He was told that the chances of regaining full use of his arm were very low. He did recover however and signed with Universal just a few months later.
In 2007, Matthew was diagnosed with “hemorrhaging caused by some polyps” which required surgery and was potentially career-threatening. Faced with an uncertain future once again, Matthew sat in literal silence for two months while his vocal cords healed. During that time the Lord provided many opportunities for growth and Matthew documented them in a film titled Nothing To Say.
The albums titled “All In” and “Brand New” are Matthew’s latest contributions to the world of Contemporary Christian music and carry messages of truth, hope, perseverance, and the importance of trusting the Lord. You may have heard husband and wife duo, Chris Rademaker and Jodie King sing their upbeat catchy songs when they released their self-titled freshman album in 2013. But, we are most excited to share with you is the next part of the journey the pair that make up KAMB artist Love & The Outcome! First, let’s take a look at how these two came together. Then we’ll walk through the early years that helped them develop into who they are as a band today. Finally, Jodie and Chris share where they are now and how they are viewing the future that the Lord is unfolding for them.
Living in Canada, Chris was part of a band “The Attics” and Jodie was enjoying the attention that her newly released LP, Little Smile. Well, The Attics folded and the two decided that it was the prefect time to start fresh and KAMB Artist Love & The Outcome was born! Feeling the warmth of California sunsets and cruising through the desert toward big cities, they created their first album and captured the feeling of riding with the windows down, music blaring loud! What they did not know yet was that they were about to walk through a spiritual desert together.
Jodie and Chris jumped in to touring and maintained a demanding schedule. They sold their home in Canada. Sharing the stage with artists such as Newsboys, TobyMac, Switchfoot, Lecrae and Jeremy Camp was a dream come true. It was when they lost Chris’s mom to cancer that they pushed pause on their careers and walked through some pretty painful hardships. Despite the hits that they endured, they felt a strong desire to move forward. Nashville would become their home where they would begin the next part of their lives as parents to Milo born in 2016.
Jodie shares “The first record was created out of a lot of hardship and a lot of pain,” she says. “You didn’t feel the joy as much, you felt the struggle – and that’s okay. The promises were true. We lived them.” She continues…”That first record was really our road trip record,” she continues. “That had been our life, and faith really looked like living on the edge. Going into this record, faith looks like resting and waiting while the Lord goes ahead of us. This record is a celebration season, and we have to really let the music sound like that. These are moments to celebrate and let the smile show a little more. And there is plenty to smile about.”

We are very excited to introduce you to brand new KAMB artist Katy Nichole and her hit single “In Jesus Name (God of Possible)”. Katy sings a prayer over those who are hurting, full of fear or those who need healing and ultimately for breakthrough in the lives of those listening. Do you know someone who needs a breakthrough to take place in their life? Perhaps you do. In this article we will look at Katy’s unique story first. Then we will discover how God uses all situations that we walk through for His glory. Lastly, we’ll take a look at where Katy is today and what you can expect to see from her in the near future. Read on to be encouraged by Katy’s story of how the Lord blessed her with the love of music, ministry and incredible talent!
KAMB artist Katy Nichole knows the the message of her song “In Jesus Name (God of Possible)” very personally. She was diagnosed with congenital scoliosis when she was in kindergarten. For many years and under the care of her orthopedic surgeon her scoliosis did not progress as aggressively as her doctors thought it would. In fact, she was referred to as a “little miracle”.
Everything changed for Katy when her dad’s job took them from their small mid-western town to Arizona. Katy had a growth spurt and her scoliosis curve became very obvious and caused a lot of pain. She walked through a time of physical and emotional pain. Kids were not nice and even the comments from adults bothered her.
Katy began to isolate herself and turned to music for comfort. Music became her form of therapy after a surgery in 2015 did not help as it should have leaving her in continual pain. She did not lose heart or stop singing she says “if anything…I sang more”!
Katy’s dad recognized her love of music, her talent and how much joy and peace it brought to her life. In 2017 he gave her a ukulele and a keyboard. She began to write and the songs poured out. She wrote songs of encouragement knowing that she is not the only person who has walked through pain and suffering. The belief that her dad had in her spurred her forward. In 2018 she became a a member of the group Musicians On Call. This is a group of artists who volunteer their time and talents to provide music for the patients. KAMB Artist Katy Nichole reflects “This has been a great experience for me because I know what it is like to be the patient – I wanted to sing anywhere that I could to bring hope through music.”
After a difficult decision in 2019 to remove fusion rods from her spine, she has experienced healing. Katy encourages other when she shares the healing power of God that took place in her life. As an advocate for others dealing with health challenges, continuing on as a volunteer for Musicians On Call and leading worship, Katy met Josh Havens – lead singer for The Afters. Josh saw something special in Katy. He encouraged her to not only write, but to begin recording. She began posting her music online and found a home as as artist with record label Centricity Music.
