Have you ever felt like you couldn’t come back from something you’d said or done? Many of us have been there. If you find yourself there today or in the future, all of us here at KAMB want to encourage you. Our Father in heaven loves you, and He hasn’t left you in the mess alone. In fact, He’s waiting for you to turn to Him as you work through it. Let today be the day when you join Seph Schlueter and say, “Lord, I’m Running Back to You.”
About Seph Schlueter
Seph Schlueter was just a teenager when he answered the Lord’s call of salvation. Upon making his confession of faith, Schlueter surrendered his life to God to do as He willed. According to his website, Schlueter joined a missionary group for youth after graduating high school. He served the ministry as their worship leader.
“I joined Damascus to be a part of bringing revival to the Catholic church, for students and families to
have a real encounter with Jesus.”

While developing his leadership skills, Schlueter also pursued his songwriting. As his songs became popular within his leadership communities, friends suggested that he send his music to record labels in Nashville. After hearing some names from an artist on Instagram, Schlueter pursued the idea.
“I wrote down all their names and sent my song to them as well as a bunch of artists I looked up to.
That usually doesn’t work too well.”

When Phil Wickham responded, Schlueter couldn’t believe it. The two quickly became friends, and Schlueter joined Wickham for some of his shows. Eventually, an A&R executive got Schlueter to Nashville and provided him with opportunities to co-write with other artists. From there, Schlueter’s career really took off. When asked about his 2023 EP release, Schlueter said:
“I hope this EP gives people a framework for Jesus. These songs are my loaves and my fish for the
Lord. If He wants to multiply it, that’s great. Multiplication isn’t my job, faithfulness is. If no one
on earth heard my songs but only heaven sang them, that would be enough.”
–Seph Schlueter, about his EP Counting My Blessings
One of his latest releases from this same EP is Running Back to You.
Running Back to You
We often convince ourselves that God can’t or won’t bring us back from where we’ve fallen. We believe that our mistakes have separated us from His love and from His grace. We decide He doesn’t want us, and then we live in the shadow of our pain and regret. When we believe these things—these lies—we forget who God is. In Running Back to You, Seph Schlueter reminds himself and us about God’s eternal love. Each and every one of us has failed, made a mistake, or walked askew to God’s plan in some way. And yet, because of who He is, God is always right there to call us back to Him.
When we run back to our Father, everything we have tried to escape finally stops chasing us. We find peace in His rest and comfort in His presence. We also receive His joy as He ministers to us. As we sit with the Lord, He reminds us that we stand forgiven before Him. And this reminder shouldn’t shame us or deceive us into believing we must now be perfect. As Schlueter sings in Running Back to You, “even the ransomed can fall on their face.” God doesn’t call us to be perfect. He calls us to walk with Him down His good paths and to trust Him as He guides us forward. We are new creations in Christ and as such can always run back to our Father instead of away from Him.

Lyrics
I was an orphan defined by mistakes
Thought I was forsaken that You gave up the chase
I went to the reaches to try and ease the ache
Turned my back on the One who kept calling my name
You kept calling my name
Didn’t matter where I was at
You just kept calling me back
Back to the table, back to my home
Back to my Father who never lost hope
For the first time in ages, I know what to do
With my arms wide open, I’m running to back to You
(Oh, oh, oh-oh) I’m running to back to You
(Oh, oh, oh-oh)
Now, I have been rescued, my soul is remade
But even the ransomed can fall on their face
When I’m drowning in questions, when I’ve lost the path
Your love is the answer as You’re calling me back
Back to the table, back to my home
Back to my Father who never lets go
Whatever I’m facing, I know what to do
With my arms wide open, I’m running to back to You
(Oh, oh, oh-oh) I’m running to back to You
(Oh, oh, oh-oh)
It doesn’t matter all the times where I’ve been in over my head
I’m never too far gone where Your arms cannot pull me back again
I’ve never been so lost where Your love could not fill my emptiness
I’m never too far gone where Your arms cannot pull me back again
Back to the table, back to my home
Back to my Father who never lets go
Whatever I’m facing, I know what to do
With my arms wide open, I’m running to back to You
Back to the table, back to my home
Back to my Father who never lost hope
For the first time in age, I know what to do
With my arms wide open, I’m running to back to YouI’m running to back to You
(Oh, oh, oh-oh) I’m running to back to You
(Oh, oh, oh-oh) oh, I’m running back to You
(Oh, oh, oh-oh) I’m running to back to You
