Ryan Ellis began writing his own music after spending five years in the U. S. Navy. Ellis had discovered his love for music during his adolescence but set it aside until he “reconnected with Jesus” during his military service (ryanellismusic.com). As an adult, he realized that music was a powerful tether for him to his faith, and he’s pursued it ever since. Ellis now has several solo EP’s, a solo album, and several collaborative singles recorded and streamed worldwide. His projects include songs like “Heart of the Father”, “Gonna Be Alright”, and “I Thank God” (which he joined Housefires on).
Today, Ellis continues to write songs that draw others to the Lord by reflecting his own experiences in his faith. Center Stage Atlanta says it well, “His honest lyrics, paired with upbeat melodies, reflect his desire to connect people through shared experiences of grief, love, and healing.” It’s with this same heart that Ellis has written Better Days.
Better Days
Some of our daily battles are quick fixes that require little effort or attention. Others are ongoing afflictions within our souls; struggles we wrestle through again and again. Whether it’s internal (like pride, anger, or depression) or external (like addiction, temptation, or gossip), all of us know how hard it can be to turn from our sins. In his song Better Days, Ryan Ellis addresses his own shortcomings while holding steadfast to his hope in Jesus.
As believers, we know it can be really hard to keep our hope alive when we don’t see God fulfilling His promises—when we don’t see a change happening. And yet, as Ellis sings, we know God’s promises are coming. Like Ellis, we can recognize the places where we stumble or feel afraid and still cry out to the Lord. Even if we feel that God’s provision is slow in coming, we can wait with great joy as we look to Him in hope. Ellis sings it well,
I know You said they’re [better days] on the way
I trust in every word You say
And even if it’s far away
I guess I’m stubborn, so I’ll wait
Instead of giving up, we need to press into the Lord and His call in our lives. He is faithful and good, and these truths alone are enough to reassure us that Better Days are coming, no matter how far away they may seem.

Lyrics
God callеd about my pride, I think I missed the message
I swear I try my best but it’s so hard not livin’ reckless
I pray for grace to be extensive ’cause I’m such a menace
I guess I’m waitin’ for some better days instead of trenches
I’m tryna keep my hopes up, keep my head up, keep my eyes up
Some things are easier said than done
Every dark night gonna see the sun, sooner or later
I guess I’m waitin’ for some better days
Some better days
I know I’m gonna see some bettеr days
Some better days
God thank You for my family and for all my blessings
I don’t deserve ’em but You keep on pourin’ out from Heaven
You’re patient with me when I stumble and I’m learnin’ lessons
That’s the thing that keeps me humble, on the right direction
You’re the strength that keeps my hopes up, keep my head up, keep my eyes up
I never have to question Your love
I’ll hold on to promise until it comes, sooner or later
I guess I’m waitin’ for some better days
Some better days
I know I’m gonna see some better days
Some better days
I guess I’m waitin’ for some better days
Some better days
I know I’m gonna see some better days
Some better days
I know You said they’re on the way
I’ll trust in every word You say
And even if it’s far away
I guess I’m stubborn so I’ll wait
I guess I’m stubborn so I’ll wait, wait, breakthrough’s comin’
Wait, wait, healing’s comin’
Wait, wait, freedom’s comin’ (Wait, wait)
Wait, wait, it’s still comin’
Wait, wait, strength is comin’
Wait, wait, joy is comin’
Wait, wait, Heaven’s comin’
And we all gon’ see some better days
Some better days
I said we gonna see some better days
Some better days
Yeah, we all gonna see some better days
Some betters days
Hallelujah for some better days
(Hallelujah for some) Some betters days
Wait, wait
Wait, wait
Hallelujah for some better days
