You’ve Got Mail…

For anyone over 40, the phrase, “You’ve Got Mail” was a standard greeting when logging in to get your email from American Online (AOL). The voice behind the iconic phrase was that of Elwood Edwards who got the job after he recorded the greeting and three other phrases on a cassette deck. It was submitted to Quantum Computer Services (that eventually became AOL), digitized, and became the voice that welcomed millions to their email and internet provider.
Connecting Today
These days, there are so many ways to get your email. According to a recent report by Edison Research, 95% of Americans rely on their email inbox today. In fact, 63% of Baby Boomers and 76% of Generation X are much more likely to rely on their email inboxes to correspond with friends and family than Millennials (35%) and Gen Z (29%). Parents with children under 40 may have noticed that if you want to get a hold of your kids, the best way is likely not email or even a phone call, but by text.
