You may have heard husband and wife duo, Chris Rademaker and Jodie King sing their upbeat catchy songs when they released their self-titled freshman album in 2013. But, we are most excited to share with you is the next part of the journey the pair that make up KAMB artist Love & The Outcome! First, let’s take a look at how these two came together. Then we’ll walk through the early years that helped them develop into who they are as a band today. Finally, Jodie and Chris share where they are now and how they are viewing the future that the Lord is unfolding for them.
In the beginning
Living in Canada, Chris was part of a band “The Attics” and Jodie was enjoying the attention that her newly released LP, Little Smile. Well, The Attics folded and the two decided that it was the prefect time to start fresh and KAMB Artist Love & The Outcome was born! Feeling the warmth of California sunsets and cruising through the desert toward big cities, they created their first album and captured the feeling of riding with the windows down, music blaring loud! What they did not know yet was that they were about to walk through a spiritual desert together.
Through the wasteland
Jodie and Chris jumped in to touring and maintained a demanding schedule. They sold their home in Canada. Sharing the stage with artists such as Newsboys, TobyMac, Switchfoot, Lecrae and Jeremy Camp was a dream come true. It was when they lost Chris’s mom to cancer that they pushed pause on their careers and walked through some pretty painful hardships. Despite the hits that they endured, they felt a strong desire to move forward. Nashville would become their home where they would begin the next part of their lives as parents to Milo born in 2016.
The road ahead
Jodie shares “The first record was created out of a lot of hardship and a lot of pain,” she says. “You didn’t feel the joy as much, you felt the struggle – and that’s okay. The promises were true. We lived them.” She continues…”That first record was really our road trip record,” she continues. “That had been our life, and faith really looked like living on the edge. Going into this record, faith looks like resting and waiting while the Lord goes ahead of us. This record is a celebration season, and we have to really let the music sound like that. These are moments to celebrate and let the smile show a little more. And there is plenty to smile about.”
