Katy Nichole—“Hold On”
This summer, KAMB is the place for encouraging new music and programming for you and your family. As you go about this new week, listen for Hold On by Katy Nichole
Katy Nichole has had a busy year! She made her music debut in 2022 with “In Jesus’ Name (God of Possible),” followed by “God is in This Story” with Big Daddy Weave. She was also featured in David Leonard’s “Good Lord.” You may have heard them on KAMB! Her first album, Jesus Changed My Life, was released in February, and includes the single Hold On.
Though only 22, Katy Nichole is a seasoned performer. She started singing in her church choir, and by 14 was writing songs and leading worship. She said: “My earliest memories of feeling the Lord’s presence were when I was singing and when I had a song in my heart.”
While in college, she started to pursue a career in the medical field, but God seemed to be leading her toward music instead: “I think our desires are sometimes different than what God has planned for us. A lot of times, we’ll think it’s going to be a certain way, and then God’s like, ‘Nope, this story is going to look a little different.’”
During struggles with severe scoliosis, depression, and anxiety, music kept Katy encouraged, and reminded her of God’s plan for her life. Through her music, she wants to inspire others to look to God in their struggles: “God’s healed me, so I know He can heal someone else. I’m going to share my story and hope it will encourage others to go and share theirs.”
Hold On was inspired by a time in Katy’s life where she struggled with depression and anxiety. In moments where she wasn’t sure she could keep going, the Lord reminded her that He was not finished with her, and has a beautiful plan for her life. This faith helped her to “hold on” and keep going, and she hopes that her new song helps others facing struggles: “I hope this song can encourage you and remind you that your life matters so, so much and you can hold on because you have a purpose,” she said on her Instagram.

Hold On encourages listeners to keep going “just a little bit longer,” even when God seems hidden. She reminds us that each life has a purpose, and that struggles make us stronger. We cannot always see what lies ahead, but this song encourages us that we should place our trust in God, who knows what is in store for each of us. Like a rainbow after rain, this reminder of God’s love for us can brighten life’s storms.

Hebrews 10:23
Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful;
Cor 4:16-18
Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

As the heat of California Summer rolls in, remember to keep the AC running and the radio turned to KAMB. We always have new music and encouraging programs for you and your family to listen to. As you go about this new week, keep your ears open for Gonna Be Alright by Ryan Ellis.
Born and raised in California, Ryan Ellis has always felt a special connection to music. Whether he was listening to Celine Dion or Pharrell, Ellis gravitated to music and entertainment scenes like nothing else. When he was older, music drew his focus back to God as he navigated his service in the Navy. Upon discovering that his interest in music was also his calling from God, Ellis pursued it headfirst. He discovered Isla Vista Worship after serving in the Navy and ultimately encountered CCM producers. This networking allowed him to write music for artists such as Chris Tomlin, Natalie Grant, Matt Redman, and others.
Throughout his CCM career, Ellis has met grief and frustration alongside his great joy in the Lord. In 2019, Ellis and his wife lost their young son to ongoing health problems. Yet, even in his heartbreak and anger, God still covered Ellis’ life in immeasurable blessings. He reconnected with his estranged father, pressed into his friendships, and grew incredibly in his faith. All of these experiences have further contributed to the success of his music career. His latest song, Gonna Be Alright, speaks to such deep pain and great joy from the perspective of a man who has been through much with our faithful God.
“In losing Asa, Ellis discovered that God’s purpose isn’t to pull people out of their depression or loneliness but to deliver the love and care they need when it’s asked for.”
Ryan Ellis – Ryan Ellis Website
Gonna Be Alright is a personal testimony as well as an invitation to shared experience. As listeners hear Ellis’ words sing out through the radio, they won’t mistake his song as a rose-colored view of life in this world. They are sure to recognize his pain within their own experiences, but they are also sure to recognize the absolute love of our Lord. Ellis immediately draws our attention to God by starting the song off with the word “You”. There’s no moment to sulk in our pain because it’s clear that Ellis knows God is right there with us. In every verse, Ellis is sure to praise God for who He is in our circumstances. He listens when we cry; He’s strong when we’re weak; He holds us when we crumble. In every moment, God is present. The best part is knowing that because He’ll never leave us, everything is Gonna Be Alright.

You hear my cry, my deepest pain You listen patiently as long as it takes You whisper truth over the lies The words that bring me back to life Everything's gonna be alright Everything's gonna be alright You hold me in Your arms Until my storm is calm Everything's gonna be alright, hmmm Everything's gonna be alright You are the strength when I am weak The only one that leads my soul to perfect peace And I will sing my way through the night The words that bring me back to life Everything's gonna be alright Everything's gonna be alright You hold me in Your arms Until my storm is calm Everything's gonna be alright Everything's gonna be alright Your love will be my song 'Til all my fears are gone Everything's gonna be alright Everything's gonna be alright Everything's gonna be alright And I believe, oh I believe You're working all things for my good You're working all things for my good And I believe, yes, I believe You're working all things for my good You're working all things And everything's gonna be alright Everything's gonna be alright You hold me in Your arms 'Til all my fear is gone Everything's gonna be alright Everything's gonna be alright Your love will be my song 'Til all my fears are gone Everything's gonna be alright Everything's gonna be alright Everything's gonna be alright I believe, yes I believe You're working all things for my good You're working all things for my good
While every song played at KAMB points people back to the Lord, Gonna Be Alright is one of those songs that gets close and personal. Every gentle note and thoughtful lyric tugs at the heartstrings of our deepest hurts and greatest joys. Ryan Ellis isn’t shy about his own mournful hope in the Lord, and we shouldn’t be either. Sometimes it takes walking through the fires with our Lord to truly understand how close He is to us. Gonna Be Alright sits close to heartache even as Ellis points us back to the hope of our faith. As we wade through the sorrows we face, we can cling to the promises of God and our hope in Jesus.

John 16:33 Jesus has overcome the world which means we can have peace in His strength.
Philippians 4:13 Our strength rests in God when we encounter life storms.
Every day at KAMB, we hope to encourage each member of our listening family through fresh music and biblical programming. Our staff seek out songs with God-honoring messages and pray that they will speak to the hearts of our listeners. Just Like Jesus by Iveth Luna is exactly one of those songs.
Before succeeding as a CCM artist, Iveth Luna grew up in a loving, ministry focused family. From childhood, she was surrounded by relatives who loved the Lord and who used their gifts to honor Him. Unlike her male relatives, however, Luna didn’t see herself becoming a worship leader. In fact, it wasn’t until she saw Kari Jobe on stage that Luna realized women could even be worship leaders. Despite this revelation, it wasn’t until her freshman year of college that Luna felt the Lord calling her to ministry as a worship leader. Her passion for worship and songwriting exploded shortly after His call, and Luna has used her talents to worship God ever since. In 2022, Luna made her CCM debut with her single “In You”. Since then, she has released new songs and continued growing her musical career. Her latest single is her song Just Like Jesus.
Luna uses Just Like Jesus to remind us of how completely we are loved by our Savior. Every lyric describes an attribute of Jesus’ character and reminds us of the promises God has made though His Son. He fills every gap we face and supplies strength for every trial and shortcoming. Luna also fills Just Like Jesus with her resounding desire to be more like Him in everything. We often find ourselves in a similar position when we remember all that the Lord has done for us. Jesus steps into our circumstances and covers us with His absolute love and grace. In turn, witnessing the example of our Savior encourages us to pursue His ways rather than our own. As His blessings pour into us, His love pours out of us. Have you ever experienced a season of blessing that prompts you to share out of your abundance with others? That’s the ripple effect of Jesus.
Oh-oh-oh-oh Oh-oh-oh-oh Who says "I'm with you there in the dark It won't always be this hard I'm holding your broken heart"? And who says "I'm not scared of your fears All your doubts, bring 'em here I'm wiping all of your tears"? He does, He does It's just like Jesus To give me strength when I need it Hope when I cannot see it When I'm falling to pieces It's just like Jesus To put me back on my feet when I was out past the deep end You wanted me when nobody wanted me Now I just wanna be Just like Jesus (Oh-oh-oh-oh) Just like Jesus (Oh-oh-oh-oh) Who is A friend to all of the friendless Fighting for the defenseless Merciful in the messes? And who can Make a sinner feel worthy Lift the head of the hurting Walk with those who are searching? It's just like Jesus To give me strength when I need it Hope when I cannot see it When I'm falling to pieces It's just like Jesus To put me back on my feet when I was out past the deep end You wanted me when nobody wanted me Now I just wanna be Just like Jesus His hands, His feet His arms reaching He wanted me when nobody wanted me Now I just wanna be Now I just wanna be His hands, His feet His arms reaching He wanted me when nobody wanted me Now I just wanna be Just like Jesus, oh Just like Jesus It's just like Jesus To give me strength when I need it Hope when I cannot see it When I'm falling to pieces (When I'm falling to pieces) It's just like Jesus To put me back on my feet when I was out past the deep end You wanted me when nobody wanted me Now I just wanna be Just like Jesus (Oh-oh-oh-oh) (His hands, His feet) (His arms reaching) Just like Jesus (Oh-oh-oh-oh) (He wanted me when nobody wanted me) (Now I just wanna be, now I just wanna be)
As you go about your week, remember what the Lord has done and promised in your life. All of us face trials of varying shapes and sizes, but we worship the same Lord. When we choose to remember His faithfulness, everything else shifts into the right perspective. It’s Just Like Jesus to step into our brokenness and make us whole, and it’s fitting that His actions stir our desire to be more like Him ourselves.

Hebrews 13:8 Jesus never changes, and we can take great comfort in this truth.
1 John 2:6 As believers, we are called to live as Jesus did.

Ephesians 4:22-24 We are called to put on our “new selves” once we have been saved.
The post-Easter season is often filled with excitement as we move forward from our celebrations and into Spring. The further we get from our Christian holidays, though, the harder it can be to hold onto renewed joys. Recognizing that, all of us at KAMB want to encourage you to keep your heart’s fire stoked for the Lord. Trials seem to especially settle in again following such times of great spiritual uplift, and now is the time to lean into God’s unwavering goodness. The latest hit Something Better by Blanca is a perfect reminder for anyone struggling to remember that goodness today.
Blanca has been a CCM artist since 2003 when the band Group 1 Crew started. She stayed on with the band for 10 years before pursuing a solo career, simply known as Blanca. Since stepping out on her own, Blanca’s songs have achieved high Billboard rankings and she has collaborated with several other CCM artists. In addition to her musical success in English, Blanca has also re-released albums and recorded original music in Spanish. Seizing the opportunity to unite her Latin roots with praise music has also allowed Blanca to reach a wider audience.
In recent years, Blanca has navigated through great hardships in her personal life which have led to further growth in her faith and music. She lost both her parents within several years of each other and then endured the grief of divorce in 2019. Rather than allowing such loss to cripple her, though, Blanca has used her experiences to glorify God through her music. The latest example of her resilience and steadfast faith in God is her latest collaboration with Tauren Wells: Something Better.
Something Better is a beautiful reminder of God’s absolute love and healing in the worst of circumstances. There are a lot of times when a situation can feel overwhelming and inescapable. We come to the end of ourselves without an answer in sight and no idea how to move forward. Yet, God always comes through. He not only pulls us out of our grief and hopelessness, but He also brings us to Something Better. Throughout the song, Blanca draws from her own hardships to demonstrate such goodness in her own life. She starts by describing her loneliness and uncertainty, but ultimately ends by singing of God’s faithfulness to her. God has taken everything that Blanca has endured and turned it into Something Better than it was. He can—and will—do the same for us, too; we just have to let Him.

It's been a couple years I've been on my own Now I know that I'm not alone You've given me a reason to carry on, to carry on, eah, yeah Yeah, everything is different now-a-days I lost a few ones along the way I had to learn to trust it'll be okay, it'll be okay Every moment I was sure I wouldn't make it through I was safe because of you I don't know how, but you take all my pain And you turn it into something better Ooh, something better There's not a tear that you let go to waste No, you turn it into something better Ooh, something better You say you never leave and you really don't A kind of love that I've never known You took over my heart and you made a home You made a home And all the broken pieces within You put them together again And with you a new story begins, begins I don't know how, but you take all my pain And you turn it into something better Ooh, something better There's not a tear that you let go to waste No, you turn it into something better Ooh, something better Ha, ha, ha, ha, haa ah, something better Ha-a, ha, ha, ha, ah ah, something better Something in the way you move I never understood That it all works for my good (yeah) Every moment I was sure I wouldn't make it through I was safe because of you I don't know how, but you take all my pain And you turn it into something better Ooh, something better There's not a tear that you let go to waste No, you turn it into something better Ooh, something better Ha, ha, ha, ha, haa ah, something better Ha-a, ha, ha, ha, ah ah, something better Ha, ha-a, ha-a, ha-a, haa ha, something better Ha-a, ha-a, ha-a, ha-a, ah ah, something better-uh ah
Nothing is too great for our God to turn into Something Better. Don’t let the lies of sorrow and shame cloud out the truth of God’s nature. All of us carry heavy burdens that the Lord is willing to take from us and transform. Rather than allowing the weight of them to cripple us, we should remember Blanca’s song and press on. God has never failed us, and He certainly won’t start now.
