Jamie MacDonald
Although her name may be new to some ears, Jamie MacDonald has had a key role in CCM for a few years. Starting her career as a background and choir singer for various Christian, MacDonald is ready to make her way as an independent artist. These experiences as well as her previous writings for other platforms have prepared her to join Capitol Christian Music Group.
Armed with her powerful voice and uplifting lyrics, Jamie MacDonald wants the world to know what it means to be Desperate for God.
Desperate
Where do you turn when you’re at the end of your strength? Do you drown yourself in unhealthy habits and damaging choices? Do you avoid the people and places that love you but can’t fix things for you? Or do you find yourself pounding on heaven’s door, waiting for God to respond?
Jamie MacDonald offers her plea to the Lord through her song, Desperate. God isn’t a divine form of fire insurance, but He is our Deliverer and Savior. He is the one who can bring about growth, change, or miracles in our weakest moments. Sometimes, when you’re at you lowest moment, you’re actually in the best possible position to seek the Lord. It’s often when we feel the most Desperate that we also become the most open to what God has to say.
In this song, MacDonald doesn’t shy away from her need for the Lord. In fact, she grabs onto it with unshakeable determination as she sings, “I won’t stop knocking ‘til you open the door.” MacDonald knows who holds the solutions to life’s greatest trials. And she’s inviting us to know it, too. It’s almost easier to give up and wallow in our hurts and pain—but that isn’t the life God has promised us. God has promised us life, hope, truth, and a future. But He has also called us to be more Desperate for Him than we are for a quick answer.
As you listen to Jamie MacDonald sing Desperate, ask yourself: do I pursue God when my world is falling apart, or do I run from Him and let it all cave in above me?

Lyrics
I’m at the end of myself and I’m
Tired, I’ve tried all that I know to do
Right now it’s just by a thread but I’m
I’m hanging on to you
I’m running out of hope
I need a miracle
And if I ever needed you, it’s right now
Oh God, I’m desperate
Down on my knees
Send help from heaven
‘Cause that’s what I need
Redeem this wreckage
Restore my peace
I’m not asking, I’m begging
Lord, come through for me
I need heaven and I’m
(Desperate)
Desperate
Oh, I need heaven, need heaven and I’m
Prayed all the prayers I can pray but I
I won’t stop knocking ’til you open the door
You can move a mountain
You can calm a storm
I know you can ’cause I’ve seen it before
Oh God, I’m desperate
Down on my knees
Send help from heaven
‘Cause that’s what I need
Redeem this wreckage
Restore my peace
I’m not asking, I’m begging
Lord, come through for me
I need heaven and I’m
(Oh, I’m) desperate
(Oh, I’m) desperate
Oh, I need heaven, need heaven and I’m
(Oh, I’m) desperate
(Oh, I’m) desperate
Oh, I need heaven, need heaven and I’m
Oh (Ooh), oh (Ooh), oh (Ooh)
And you’re my only hope
I need a miracle
And if I ever needed you, it’s right now
Oh God, I’m desperate
Down on my knees
Send help from heaven
‘Cause that’s what I need
Redeem this wreckage
Restore my peace
I’m not asking, I’m begging
Lord, come through for me
I need heaven and I’m
(Oh, I’m) desperate
(Oh, I’m) desperate
Oh, I need heaven, need heaven and I’m
(Oh, I’m) desperate
(Oh, I’m) desperate
Oh, I need heaven, need heaven and I’m
(Desperate)
