When was the last time you and your siblings did something fun together? For the band CAIN, that’s an easy question to answer. Madison Cain Johnson, Taylor Cain Matz, and Logan Cain are not only bandmates but sisters and brother, too! These joyous pastors’ kids were raised in Hartselle, Alabama where their love for Jesus and music first started. In 2012, CAIN was invited to open for Dave Barnes and Andrew Ripp and their musical journey took off from there.
Today, CAIN headlines their own tours, performs alongside other CCM artists, and writes their hearts out for Jesus. With songs like “Rise Up (Lazarus)”, “Yes He Can”, and “I’m So Blessed”, the trio has gained attention and adoration from audiences worldwide. Their gift for singing and songwriting continues to shine brightly with every single they release. Don’t miss out on their heartfelt and raw song, I Made It.
I Made It
When we’re in the middle of our suffering, nothing seems to soothe the heartache ripping its way through us. We pray, we cry, and we wait for things to get better… and most of the time, they eventually do. But what do we say when we finally leave that suffering behind? Do we curse God for letting it happen at all? Do we pretend it didn’t happen and ignore it as much as possible? Or do we echo CAIN’s refrain and whisper, humble and raw: I Made It.
So often, battling against the darkness in our lives shreds our confidence that there is a way out. Our eyes are so focused on the thundering storms around us that we crumble where we once stood. And then God does the impossible: He lifts us up from the dust and walks us through each step in the sand until we’re on solid ground once again. Once there, the Lord reveals how He has renewed us during our journey. Like CAIN, we’ve “come out the other side stronger” and have the blessing of recognizing exactly how and when the Lord provided that strength where we had none to give.
CAIN sings, “Oh, it cost me / But it taught me / that You won’t quit”. God never promised that we would escape suffering in this life—in fact, He promised that we would suffer. But He also promised to be with us. To this day, His promise stands. Even when we lose pieces of ourselves along the way, God always restores us to His purposes. He always shows up, He always leads us through, and He is always faithful.
To Him be the glory that we can know that we have “never left the hands of [our] Father,” even in the worst moments of our lives. It is because of His strength and faithfulness that we can look back on the darkest days we thought would overwhelm us and say, I Made It.

Lyrics
Been a long year
Cried some hard tears
On some dark nights
Tried to pray through
Nothing seemed to
Make the wrongs right
Oh, I can’t believe the pain I’ve seen
But looking back
Through every step
You never left
And I’m so thankful that
I’m coming out the other side stronger
One foot in front of the other
Hands still raising
Heart still praising
I made it
I made it
I made it
I made it
Through the storms
The hell and high water
I never left the hands of my Father
Lungs still breathing
Thank You, Jesus
I made it
I made it
I made it
I made it
Oh, it cost me
But it taught me
That You won’t quit
How faithful
How amazing
That Your grace is
Oh, no matter what this life may bring
I know You’ll bring me through
And even in my suffering
Lord, I can trust in You, yeah
I’m coming out the other side stronger
One foot in front of the other
Hands still raising
Heart still praising
I made it
I made it
I made it
I made it
Through the storms
The hell and high water
I never left the hands of my Father
Lungs still breathing
Thank You, Jesus
I made it
I made it
I made it
I made it
I made it through more
Than I thought that I could
I walked through the worst
But it worked for my good
It’s a miracle that I can stand here and say
I made it
Oh, I made it
I made it through more
Than I thought that I could
I walked through the worst
But it worked for my good
It’s a miracle that I can stand here and say
I made it
Yes, Praise God, I made it
Oh, I made it
I’m coming out the other side stronger (yeah)
One foot in front of the other
Hands still raising
Heart still praising
I made it
I made it (You’re the only reason I made it)
I made it
I made it
Through the storms
The hell and high water (come what may)
I never left the hands of my Father (You never let me go)
Lungs still breathing
Thank You, Jesus (thank You, Jesus)
I made it
I made it
I made it (hey)
I made it
Oh, yeah
Lungs still breathing
Thank You, Jesus
I made it
I made it
I made it
I made it
