DOE
You may not know that you KNOW DOE, but you likely KNOW DOE! Do you remember the Gospel Christian group, “FOREVER JONES?”
“My parents had five children, so we eventually became a group and we actually did very well.”–DOE
The group consisted of the two Jones parents, their three daughters, & two brothers. The sixteen-year-old daughter was named Dominique Jones. (a.k.a. DOE) Between 2010-2014, she and her family enjoyed success in Gospel/Christian music with multiple Stellar, Dove, & GRAMMY Award nominations.
“I started experimenting with that and really just honestly doing what was in my heart – doing prayer music and using prayer tools to help people pray.” -DOE
God Is In Control
“GOD IS IN CONTROL” is the second single to drop from her latest (EP 2024) release, “NOTE TO SELF.”
“For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together.”-Colossians 1:16-17
God is sovereign, defined as “Supreme Ruler” He is Lord over or in control of all creation; everything happens according to His plan and purpose. DOE does a masterful job communicating this theme in this song.
“GOD IS IN CONTROL” serves as a reminder to all of us that, despite the difficulties of life, there is a firm foundation that we can stand on without fear. John Peter from Remasounds.com describes it best. “Doe’s soulful voice serves as a powerful instrument to convey not just the lyrics, but also the depth of emotion and conviction behind the message.”
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”-John 14:27

Lyrics
I was needing to be found
I was longing for a breakthrough
Chains held me to the ground
A perfect time for a rescue
But only You could make a way
Only You could make the windbreak
I will call on Your name
And I will make myself sing
God is in control (oh)
Yes, He's in control (yes)
I hope You know? (I hope You know?)
In case You don't (in case You don't)
His story shows (His story shows)
He's in control (mmm)
A tug of war for my mind
Battle for my sanity
But I ain't going down without a fight
The enemy thought he had me (oh)
'Cause I was stayin' by Your light
The only place I know to be (yeah)
Darkness is running from Your light
Perfect love surrounds me (whoa)
Suddenly I heard a sound
Chains falling all around me
You were riding on a cloud (hey)
There was lightning at Your feet
Victory was in Your mouth (victory)
Mountains are trembling (mountains)
Heaven follows with a shout (come on)
I'll join in singing (singing)
God is in control (oh)
Yes, He's in control (yes)
I hope You know? (I hope You know?)
In case You don't (in case You don't)
His story shows (His story shows)
He's in control (oh, oh)
Your peace passes all my understanding
Brand-new mercies for me in the morning
Help me sing
Your peace passes (mm) all my understanding (sing it, sing it)
Brand-new mercies for me in the morning (oh, this is what His word says)
Your peace passes all my understanding (whoa-oh, this is what His word says)
Brand-new mercies for me in the morning (oh, and this is what I believe in)
Your peace passes all my understanding (oh, His peace passes)
Brand-new mercies for me in the morning (yeah, and this is why I'm planted)
Your peace passes all my understanding (by the streams of water)
Brand-new mercies for me in the morning (help me sing it)
God is in control, oh
Yes, He's in control (I know, I know)
God is in control (You better believe it)
I hope You know? (I hope You know?)
His story shows (His story shows)
God is in control (Woo, yes, He is)
Yes, He's in control (it's what His word said)
God is in control (yes, He is, He's in control)
I hope You know? (I hope You know?)
In case You don't (in case You don't)
His story shows (His story shows)
He's in control (ooh)
Your peace passes all my understanding
Brand-new mercies for me in the morning
His peace passes all my understanding
