Cece Winans
Cece Winans is one of the most accomplished CCM artists today. With 17 Grammy Awards, 31 Dove Awards, and 16 Stellar Awards, Winans’ talent speaks for itself. And still, after 40 years of recognition, Winans makes it clear that her focus is on the Lord and not on herself.
Winans grew up in a strong Christian household with nine siblings. Her parents encouraged them all to pursue the Lord from an early age, particularly through gospel music. Winans’ musical career began when she and her brother, Bebe, sang on the Christian television program “The PTL Club” (mabumbe.com). For a season, Winans and her brother collaborated on gospel music together and ultimately released nine Gold and Platinum recordings; one of their albums was the first gospel album to sell over a million units (mabumbe.com).
After several years of success with Bebe, Winans stepped into her solo career and released several more albums and her own recording company, PureSprings Gospel. She also pastors alongside her husband at their church in Nashville, Tennessee. Through it all, Winans continues to pour her heart out for the Lord and her family. From her roots in gospel music at home to her performances on stage, Winans keeps the Lord front and center. Without Him and without her family and their shared love of the Lord, Winans wouldn’t be the artist we know today.
Come Jesus Come
Come Jesus Come is a moving plea from the believer to the Lord, asking for His return to be now. Have you ever felt that way? Have you ever cried out to the Lord and asked Him not to delay any longer? Believers worldwide have shared in this prayer worldwide since Jesus first made His promise to return. Come Jesus Come powerfully describes both the long-awaited hope we have in the Lord and our growing burden for this hope to be fulfilled. Some days on this earth are wonderful, but others are heavy with darkness. Those heavy moments make it easier to remember that this world isn’t our home; we’re here, but we don’t belong here. We belong to the King, and someday He’s coming back for us.
Alongside the joyful waiting of the believer is our other desire for nonbelievers to come to faith in the Lord. Near the end of Come Jesus Come, when Winans mentions being face to face with the Lord, an invitation appears for those who don’t know Jesus. Winans sings,
Come and lay it all down
‘Cause it might be today
The time is right now
There’s no need to wait
Your past will be washed away by rivers of grace
This call is for you and it’s for me. It’s a reminder to the believer of the grace and forgiveness we have received, and it’s a call to the nonbeliever to discover the depth of love the Lord has for them, too. Wherever you find yourself today, remember that we can have great joy when we pray Come Jesus Come.

Lyrics
Sometimes I fall to my knees and pray
Come, Jesus, come
Let today be the day
Sometimes I feel like I’m gonna break
But I’m holding on
To a hope that won’t fade
Come, Jesus, come
We’ve been waiting so long
For the day You return
To heal every hurt and right every wrong
We need You right now
Come and turn this around
Deep down I know this world isn’t home
Come, Jesus, come
There’ll be no war
And there’ll be no chains
When Jesus comes
Let today be the day
He’ll come for the weak
And the strong just the same
And all will believe in the power of His name
Come, Jesus, come
We’ve been waiting so long
For the day You return
To heal every hurt and right every wrong
We need You right now
(Come and turn this around) turn this around
Deep down I know this world isn’t home
Come, Jesus, come
Come, Jesus, come
One day He’ll come
And we’ll stand face to face
Come and lay it all down
‘Cause it might be today
The time is right now
There’s no need to wait
Your past will be washed by rivers of grace
Come, Jesus, come
We’ve been waiting so long
For the day You return
To heal every hurt and right every wrong
We need You right now
(Come and turn this around) turn this around
Deep down I know this world isn’t home
Come, Jesus, come
Come, Jesus, come
Come, Jesus, come
