101.5 KAMB/Celebration Radio is honored to welcome its new General Manager, Chris Grant.
Chris comes to KAMB with a wealth of sales and management experience outside of the radio industry. He also has years of experience within radio broadcasting that includes roles in sales, programming, promotions, signal expansion, and FCC compliance with Cumulus Media and KSTN AM/FM.
Chris’ love for radio led him to volunteer at KAMB several years ago. Five years ago, he was asked to serve on KAMB’s Board of Directors. Chris was soon appointed to chair the KAMB Board, a role he will continue to fulfill as the Board continues its next steps for the station. Said Chris, “The KAMB team is passionate about the Gospel and sharing it with excellence. I have the privilege of leading in this new capacity with that long-term groundwork in place so that listeners can continue to be encouraged, seekers can consider the call, and God can be glorified.”
Drek Beardsley, Vice-Chair of the KAMB Board, said, “Chris’ experience and passion for KAMB was unmistakable. We considered other candidates, but unanimously concluded as a board that Chris was the ideal candidate for General Manager, and he graciously accepted. We are looking forward to a bright future!”
Chris and his wife of 25 years, Valerie, have two teenagers and reside in Lodi. “I’m most looking forward to connecting with our communities so that the power of radio can be used for their benefit, both spiritually and practically. KAMB faces many of the same challenges as those around us locally. We can face them together with prayer, initiative, and determination as we seek the kingdom first; knowing where our hope comes from. KAMB is so grateful for the listeners and supporters that the Lord provides, making the ministry possible.”
Chris began his duties at KAMB on April 17. Welcoming his successor, retiring General Manager, Tim Land, said, “Chris’ walk with the Lord is strongly evident. He has a deep desire to see God’s kingdom grow and is keenly interested in how KAMB can have an increasingly influential part in furthering that growth. I strongly believe that one of the most important things the KAMB listening family can do at this time is to pray regularly for Chris and his family, especially as he begins this new journey of leading the daily ministry of Celebration Radio.”
101.5 KAMB/Celebration Radio is owned and operated by Central Valley Broadcasting Co., Inc. and has four additional broadcast signals that reach the Central Coast and the Sierra Foothills. Visit celebrationradio.com.
Next week, KAMB kicks off our Spring fundraising Celebration centered around the theme, Your Story, His Glory. If that sounds a little familiar, you may recognize it as the new single from singer/songwriter Matthew West, who will be one of our guests during this fundraiser. But you may not know two other voices who’ll be on the air with Brandon, Dave, Mark, and Tim. Say hello to Jack (on the left) and Chris (on the right).
Jack is the Manager and Morning Show Host at Renew 96.9 in Magee, MS. Jack is no stranger to radio, having served at various stations for nearly 34 years. He’s a huge fan of KAMB and a former host of KAMB fundraisers in years gone by. Jack believes that local radio is the way to go as it best serves the community it reaches. He and his wife, Teresa, have two grown children and a menagerie of animals including dogs, cats, cows, goats, and a donkey. Says Jack, “I’m thrilled to be coming back to KAMB. The station truly embraces the people residing in the Central Valley and Central Coast. The KAMB team is dedicated to serve well and ensure that those who listen and connect with the station will see and experience Jesus and the life he invites each person to live.”
After retiring as Station Manager of WCSG in Grand Rapids, MI, Chris connected with his good friends at KAMB, friends he’s known for better than two decades. He began working more closely with the station in August of 2021 as a coach and advisor to the team. Like Jack, Chris is a huge fan of KAMB and believes the station has great potential to be a significant influence for Christ in the Central Valley and Central Coast. Chris and his wife, Sue, have six children, five grandchildren, one dog and two cats. Chris commented, “Working with the team at KAMB reminds me how blessed their listening family is. The team is genuine, trusted, sincere, and humbled to serve those who tune in. I’m looking forward to being a part of something special that week.”

St. Patrick’s Day and all things Iri… uh that is… British? You may find it surprising, but St. Patrick was not born in Ireland, but instead born in Britain to wealthy parents in the late fourth century. At age 16, he was kidnapped by Irish raiders and taken to Ireland as a slave. Patrick later escaped but returned to Ireland, bringing Christianity to its people. In the centuries following Patrick’s death (believed to have been on March 17, 461), the mythology surrounding his life became ever more ingrained in the Irish culture: Perhaps the most well-known legend of St. Patrick is that he explained the Holy Trinity (Father, Son and Holy Spirit) using the three leaves of a native Irish clover, the shamrock.
According to History.com, because he was familiar with the Irish language and culture, “Patrick chose to incorporate traditional ritual into his lessons of Christianity instead of attempting to eradicate native Irish beliefs. For instance, he used bonfires to celebrate Easter since the Irish were used to honoring their gods with fire. He also superimposed a sun, a powerful Irish symbol, onto the Christian cross to create what is now called a Celtic cross, so that veneration of the symbol would seem more natural to the Irish. Although there were a small number of Christians on the island when Patrick arrived, most Irish practiced a nature-based pagan religion. The Irish culture centered around a rich tradition of oral legend and myth. When this is considered, it is no surprise that the story of Patrick’s life became exaggerated over the centuries—spinning exciting tales to remember history has always been a part of the Irish way of life.” For more on the life of St. Patrick and St. Patrick’s Day traditions, click here.
Just as St. Patrick was committed to telling others about Christ, so too is KAMB. From its beginning over 55 years ago, KAMB has been pointing the way to Jesus Christ through Christ-centered music and programming. KAMB is listener-supported, meaning we count on listeners to also pray for us and give toward the financial need of the station. Next week, March 21-24 is KAMB’s Spring Fundraiser, but you’re invited to make a gift to KAMB even before the official start by clicking here. Know that your gift given by March 20 is worth twice as much, thanks to friends who are matching each gift dollar for dollar up to $10,000.
