For decades, Big Daddy Weave has successfully won the hearts of audiences worldwide—both for their music and for the Lord. What started as a group of college friends playing music together has become one of the best-known CCM bands today. With powerful singles like “Redeemed”, “The Lion and the Lamb”, and “Overwhelmed”, it’s no wonder why Big Daddy Weave is adored by so many.

Their presence has slowed down in recent years, though, with the death of Jay Weaver (a band member and Mike Weaver’s brother, also a band member). After battling various health issues for years, the Lord called Jay home in January of 2022. As Big Daddy Weave continues to grieve and shift with the hole they now carry in their hearts, they also continue to write music declaring the truth of God.

With a new album full of honest brokenness and unwavering faith, Big Daddy Weave shares the journey of doubt and trust they have faced. Things aren’t what they were, but they are still good because God is good. Their new single, I’ve Just Seen Too Much, beautifully holds to the truth of God’s faithfulness in the midst of their sorrow.

I've Just Seen Too Much

I’ve Just Seen Too Much is Big Daddy Weave’s deep cry of belief in the face of bitter loss. As the song describes the band’s raw journey of grief, the gentle and profound message of God’s peace stands out. Big Daddy Weave found themselves in one of the lowest valleys any of us could imagine, and that many of us have also lived through. In a moment when the “logical” thing would have been to give into their doubt, Big Daddy Weave buckled down and leaned into their faith. Rather than allowing their anguish to win, they turned their grief into sincere cries out to the Lord.

Big Daddy Weave clings to a truth stronger than any lie or emotion can ever be: their personal testimonies of God’s faithfulness. Over and over again in the song, Mike Weaver sings,

If you ask me how I know, I know He’s real
I could believe that He’s still with me
In spite of how it feels
If you ask me why I trust Him
When it feels like everything has come undone
All I can tell you is I’ve just seen too much

This is the power of keeping the Lord’s promises and blessings in our lives treasured in our hearts. In the moments when everything around us falls apart and our strength is taken from us, God still stands. He is still right there beside us patiently waiting as we wrestle with our doubt and cry out to Him for the help only He can provide. Sometimes, our feelings don’t match what we believe—what we know to be true in our heart of hearts. It’s in those moments when we get to decide whether we’ll cling to all He has done and proven true or if we’ll turn away.

Our prayer at Celebration Radio KAMB is that we and our listeners can follow Big Daddy Weave’s example and stand firm in our faith even when the world is caving in. In the days of our deepest hurts, may we all say I’ve Just Seen Too Much.

Have you heard the song yet??

Lyrics

Been walking through the fire
Wrestling down my share of doubts
Some days it feels like I’ve been
Losing more than I have found
I won’t tell you that I’ve got it all together
If you know me, then you know my faith has wavered

If you ask me how I know, I know He’s real
I could believe that He’s still with me
In spite of how it feels
If you ask me why I trust Him
When it feels like everything has come undone
All I can tell you is I’ve just seen too much

Even now I couldn’t tell you I’m okay with everything
Yet I begged for something different
There’s still so much I would have changed
But even in the midst of all the hurting
I’ve seen enough to know that He’s still working

If you ask me how I know, I know He’s real
I could believe that He’s still with me
In spite of how it feels
If you ask me why I trust Him
When it feels like everything has come undone
Ooh, all I can tell you is I’ve just seen too much

Of His kindness
Too much of His goodness
Too much of His mercy
That always follows me, I’ve seen
Too much of His patience
Too much of His faithfulness
I can’t believe He’s any less than all He’s been to me

So if you ask me how I know, I know He’s real
I could believe that He’s still with me
In spite of how it feels
If you ask me why I trust Him
When it feels like everything has come undone
Ooh, if you ask me how I know, I know He’s real
I could believe that He’s still with me
In spite of how it feels
If you ask me why I trust Him
When it feels like everything has come undone
All I can tell you is I’ve just seen too much

Oh, I’ve just seen too much
