KAMB strives to share the love of God with our listening family through everything we do, but especially music. It is such a joy to add new songs to our station. Hearing them helps our hearts sing and we hope they help you, too. Andrew Ripp’s latest release, Love’s Got A Way, is an upbeat tune that focuses us back on the power of God’s love.

Andrew Ripp

According to Nashville Lifestyles, Andrew Ripp was born and raised just outside of Chicago. After graduating from high school, he moved to Los Angeles and pursued his interest in songwriting while he attended college. Ripp had opportunities to cowrite music with Ryan Cabrera in 2004. After a few of his songs were added to Cabrera’s latest record, Ripp enjoyed a season of writing without the worry of supporting himself. While the stress-free time was nice, Ripp realized he was often alone and drinking. With the help of his wife Carly and a new love for the Lord, Ripp turned a new leaf.

Following an offer to move to Nashville and play music, Ripp joined Be Music & Entertainment, an artist development company. Being a part of such an intimate circle provided a huge step forward in Ripp’s career. Despite his successes, however, Ripp found himself dealing with serious fear and anxiety. He had struggled against such things since first becoming a songwriter. Before, Ripp had believed there was a way to overcome it on his own. It took the encouragement and support of his friendships to realize how much he needed to let God and others in. As he drew closer to the Lord, Ripp realized that God always comes through for us because Love’s Got A Way.

If I want God’s dream over my life rather than mine, I have to be willing to let go of everything I know. Learning how to rest and quiet the noise has done wonders in my life. We have to learn how to get quiet.

Love’s Got A Way

In Love’s Got a Way, Andrew Ripp describes so many of the ways that love changes everything. It’s often easier to hold onto our frustrations, disappointments, and miseries. Rather than looking on the bright side, we stare at the hard things and let them bring us down. Ripp calls himself out on such thinking and invites us to step away from that mentality with him. At the beginning of his song, Ripp sings, “I let got long ago / thinking I knew everything / I let love in my soul.”  That alone is enough to remind us that love—specifically God’s love—is more than enough to change our perspective.

Love gives us hope, kindness, peace, and even belief. To sing Love’s Got a Way is to say that love can undo the things nothing else can. Unlike pride, envy, and strife, love opens our hearts up to what God has for us. Because of love, relationships can be restored, and we can become much more selfless people. But we must remember who our God is above the difficulties we face. Love’s Got a Way, because God has a way for you and me that is unlike anything we’ve experienced before. To let God’s love in is the truth of living. We spend so much time struggling, but our heavenly Father is waiting for us to realize that His Love’s Got a Way.

Lyrics

I let go long ago
Thinking I knew everything
I let love in my soul
Started listening to the choir sing

When I laid down all my pride
Was a death that saved my life
And that's how I know
The darkest nights still end with the sun rise

'Cause love's got a way
Of bringing healing to a heart in pain
Making beauty from the ashes
Breaking chains one after another
Putting old lies to shame
Love's got a way
Of looking straight into the eyes of hate
Still believing that a world can change
Hold on my sisters and brothers
The mountain looks too great
But love's got a way

Oh, oh, whoa, oh
Yeah, yeah, yeah, love's got a way
Oh, oh, whoa, oh

The truth of its nature
Is always give and never take
It flows with that freedom
Surrendering itself away
Carves canyons through the stone
Tells the rivers to run home
And that's how I know
There's a hand in mine walking this long road

Love's got a way
Of bringing healing to a heart in pain
Making beauty from the ashes
Breaking chains one after another
Putting old lies to shame
Love's got a way
Of looking straight into the eyes of hate
Still believing that a world can change
Hold on my sisters and brothers
The mountain looks too great
But love's got a way

Oh, oh, whoa, oh
Yeah, yeah, yeah, love's got a way
Oh, oh, whoa, oh

I'm getting out of the way of love
I'm getting out of the way of love
I'm letting go and learning to trust
I'm letting love do what it does
I'm getting out of the way of love
Of love
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

Love's got a way
Of bringing healing to a heart in pain
Making beauty from the ashes
Breaking chains one after another
Putting old lies to shame
Love's got a way
Of looking straight into the eyes of hate
Still believing that a world can change
Hold on my sisters and brothers
The mountain looks too great
But love's got a way

Oh, oh, whoa, oh
Love's got a way
Oh, oh, whoa, oh, hey
