Rhett Walker Band Opens Merced Fair

The Rhett Walker Band is a group of talented musicians and songwriters, whose hit “When Mercy Found Me,” has been riding the Christian music charts, and they’re coming to the 2013 Merced County Fair. The Rhett Walker Band will perform Opening Day, Wednesday, June 12, in the fairgrounds' Outdoor Theatre, where all concerts are free with admission.

Admission to the 2013 Merced County Fair will be the same bargain as the 2012 Fair – everybody gets in for $5. Kids 5 years and under will continue to get in free. Seniors, 65 years and better, will get free admission on that day for Mercy Medical Center Seniors' Day. This is the contest where everyone wins! First prize is $100, second prize is $50, and every entrant will feed 16 hungry people homemade apple pie.
The 10th Annual Apple Pie Contest is open to all local bakers and service clubs. Each entrant must register in advance at the Stanislaus County Fairgrounds. There is no entrance fee and registration begins in Mid-May and continues through July 11th. Each entrant is asked to enter two pies.
All pies are donated to the United Samaritan Foundation's Daily Bread Program and served as dessert with lunch the next day. Five local dignitaries will judge the entries on July 12th, the first night of the fair.
